The Proffer Company was established by Udell Proffer in 1964 and continues to this day operating on the principles that he established: quality products, customer service, innovation and loyalty.
Proffer Produce has evolved into more than your
average wholesaler. Today, the Proffer Company produces a large line of produce including: Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Squash, Eggplant, Peppers, Apples, Onions, Peaches, Pecans , Watermelons and many other fruits and vegetables.
With growing operations/marketing arrangements in Florida, Missouri, Illinois, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas as well as Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. We have developed these different growing regions to create a flow of fresh produce all year round. This allows us to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to our customers throughout all four seasons.
Our State-of-the-Art Packing House operates virtually 24/7.

The year was 1964. An ambitious gentlemen filled with hope, started supplying a single retail store out of the trunk of his car in Park Hills, MO. Udell Proffer had a dream of controlling his own destiny and creating a legacy for generations to be proud of.
Today, Proffer Produce still operates in the same location out of our state of the art 100,000 square foot facility. Our wholesale operation is still a very vital part of our business, as we continue to highlight the Top Industry Brands. Additionally, we are now a vertically integrated company specializing in growing, shipping, packing, repacking and distribution of tomatoes and eastern vegetables. We are still committed to the principles that our company was founded on in 1964: quality products, customer service, innovation and loyalty.
Through our warehouse locations, located strategically in the Midwest, we have the capability to service a total of 13 states. Our state of the art facilities and company owned transportation equipment allow for a broad array of services.
The Proffer Company continues to grow through the expansion of our product lines and our distribution-repack network continuing to offer the highest quality products to our customers and building on the Company’s history of growth and success.
Our highly professional and trained food safety team strives to ensure the highest level of food safety and security is obtained. We have worked hard to secure an excellent rating each year from our third party Steritech audits that have been conducted annually since they were implemented in 2002.
We have also passed the USDA audit program for Good Agricultural Practices & Good Handling Practices most recently in July 2010.
We strictly enforce all aspects of the Country Of Origin Labeling laws. All of our produce is triple inspected, not only to maintain high levels of quality but also to ensures food safety and security. We have perfected product traceability that allows us to have 100% total traceability within four hours of initial recall notification.
We comply with all recognized universal UPC and PLU statutes.

Supply-Chain Management
This is a critical piece of our sourcing initiative as well as a major point of differentiation from our competitors. Our goal is not to be the cheapest buyer in the marketplace. Our goal is to bring more of a value to the farmers to encourage longstanding relationships. This network was created to leverage our sourcing volume working with a group of quality, reputable and progressive growers to compliment our own product supply. Suppliers are continually evaluated on overall performance by not only our expectation levels but those of our customers as well.
There are 7 key attributes within this network.
Our most recent inspection shows we scored the highest possible rating on food safety. SCS or Scientific Certification Systems is the 3rd party company we use for our main warehouse. Primus Labs is the company we use for our growing locations as we feel there program is better tailored for growers than for repack or forward distribution type operations.

Proffer Transportation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Proffer Wholesale Produce, Inc., which was established by Udell Proffer in 1964.
Proffer Transportation currently consists of more than 40 tractor trailers, 55 refrigerater and dry van trailers, multiple Bob Trucks, 24 hr service station, and an extensive truck brokerage to handle all your transportation needs.
All of our tractors are equipped with a Quall Comm Satellite communication Systems, and all of our drivers are equipped with Cell Phones. This affords Proffer Produce and its customers up to the minute track ability of each shipment.
With our private fleet we have provided prompt and accurate deliveries for many years to most of the Distribution Centers in the Mid-West and out to Cheyenne, Wy. With the use of purchase-order numbering, shipping requirements and utilizing the retail link system we abide by the terms and conditions of the Supplier Agreement.
